Extension of last date for getting OCI Card re-issued to 31st December 2020
As per existing instructions, the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) Cardholder registration is required to be got re-issued each time a new passport is issued up to the age of 20 years and once after competing 50 years of age in view of biological changes in the face of the OCI Cardholder. With a view to avoid inconvenience to such Cardholders, it has been decided to grant extension of till 31st December 2020 to get their OCI Cards re-issued.
As and when restrictions on international air travel is lifted by the Government of India and the status of OCI Card as a lifelong visa for travel to/from India is restored, such OCI Cardholders may be allowed to travel on the strength of their existing OCI Cards bearing old passport. However, this will be subject to the condition that the OCI Cardholder will have to travel along with the current OCI Card, current passport and the old passport whose details are endorsed on the OCI card.
