Flag Hoisting ceremony 80^th Independence Day of India

The Consulate General of India in Chicago celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day at the Consulate premises with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm, with over 200 members of the Indian diaspora and community leaders joining the celebrations.

The programme commenced with a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, celebrating 150 years of India’s National Song and setting a patriotic tone for the occasion. Consul General Shri Somnath Ghosh thereafter hoisted the Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. He also read out the Hon’ble President of India’s Address to the Nation on the eve of Independence Day.

A brief cultural programme followed, featuring a patriotic fusion Kathak performance by Team I-Radha, patriotic songs by Ganesh Badwe, and performances by children of Chicago Tyagaraj Utsavam. Certificates and prizes were presented to winners of the Viksit Bharat 2047 Painting Competition, My India, My Story, and Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz.

Participants also joined the #HarGharTiranga campaign, expressing their pride and love for India and celebrating the nation’s rich heritage.
