"India Corner" at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL – 24 February 2026
As part of its initiative to establish “India Corners” across Midwest universities, the Consulate inaugurated an “India Corner” at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, donating a diverse collection of books on India’s culture, history, economy, science, technology, and politics. Consul General presented the books to the President of IIT, emphasizing their role in enriching learning and fostering global awareness. Founded in 1890 with over 8000 students, IIT is renowned for innovation, research excellence, and strong industry connections. Consul General met faculty & Indian students and discussed about ways of further engagements






"India Corner" at the National India Hub, Schaumburg, IL - 31 Jan 2026
As part of the Consulate’s initiative to establish “India Corners” at Universities and institutions across the Midwest, the Consulate, in collaboration with National India Hub, Schaumburg, donated a diverse collection of books on India’s culture, history, economy, science and technology, and political landscape. Consul General Mr. Somnath Ghosh presented the books to National India Hub, noting that these resources will enrich students’ learning, inspire curiosity, and broaden understanding of India’s rich heritage and modern achievements.



“India Corner” at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, IL – 10 March 2025
As part of the Consulate’s initiative to establish “India Corners” at Universities across the Midwest, the Consulate in collaboration with the Asian American Cultural Center and the Indian Graduate Student Association at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, donated a diverse collection of books on topics related to India, including its culture, history, economy, science & technology, and political landscape. Sanjeev Pal, Consul (Press, Information & Culture) met with Dr. David W Chhi, Senior Director, Asian American Cultural Center, to present these books which aim to provide around 55000 students at the University with accessible, high-quality resources on India.
