Dr. M. Anand Prakash

Dr. M. Anand Prakash is a career diplomat, having joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2005. He assumed charge as the Consul General of India in Chicago on 3 September 2026.

Over the course of two decades of diplomatic service, Dr. Prakash has held a range of assignments in India and abroad. His overseas postings include Beijing, Moscow, Kyiv, and Jakarta.

Immediately prior to his current assignment, he was heading the Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran (PAI) Division at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. He has also served in Divisions dealing with Eurasia (ERS), Israel, Palestine, Egypt and Syria (WANA), and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Dr. Prakash is proficient in English, Tamil, and Hindi, and has a working knowledge of Russian. Outside his professional responsibilities, he enjoys travelling and listening to music. He is married to Dr. Srivardhini, and they have two children.
