Medical Devices Market in India- Exciting opportunities for growth


Consulate General of India, Chicago in partnership with Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Chennai held a webinar today morning on “Medical Devices Market in India- Exciting opportunities for growth”. 

2. Event started with Welcome remarks and introduction of guest speakers by Mr Arun Miranda, Chairman, IACC. Speakers included Amit Kumar, Consul General of India, Chicago, MrRavindranath Menon, Senior Business Advisor, Nextdigm (SKP), Mr S.K. Srihar, K & S Partners and Mr T. Anand, I.A.S., Managing Director, State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT).

3. Consul General, in his remarks touched upon the wide-ranging India US partnership, the reform agenda pursued by the government and the opportunities in the medical devices sector in India. He highlighted the potential for the medical devices sector to grow four-fold from current 11 billion USD to over fifty billion USD by 2025. He referred to the PLI scheme as part of our efforts to strengthen manufacturing capabilities in India and to be a more active player in the global supply chains. Together with 100% FDI and vibrant startups ecosystem, CG underlined that the time is ripe for medical devices companies to expand their presence in India to cater to increased domestic demands and to cater to key regional markets from India.

4. Remarks from MrRavindranath Menon, Senior Business Advisor, Nextdigm (SKP), Mr S.K. Srihar, K & S Partners, Mr T. Anand, I.A.S., Managing Director, State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) focused on strengths of Tamil Nadu and to identify opportunities between Tamil Nadu and US-Midwest Tamil Nadu in medical devices sector.

5. Industry leaders Ms Meenakshi Nevatia, Vice President & Managing Director, M/s Stryker India and Dr G.S.K. Velu, CMD, M/s Trivitron Healthcare shared their perspectives on attractive opportunities and challenges for investors for the Medical devices market in India.

6. The event registered attendance of more than 100 from India and the USA and positive feedbacks from the attendees.
