Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s visit to Chicago

Ambassador of India to United States His Excellency Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu visited Chicago on 26-27 June 2022. Ambassador Sandhu, accompanied by Consul General Amit Kumar, had a number of substantive meetings and interactions with concerned stakeholders in several areas of interest.

CG Amit Kumar had hosted a dinner interaction for Ambassador Sandhu with Indian American entrepreneurs, businessmen and professionals at the Consulate. He also hosted a separate interaction for Ambassador at his residence where a vibrant group of Midwest Community drawn from business, education, S&T, art and culture spheres were present.

Ambassador Sandhu also participated in Sadbhavna event organized by the community. In his remarks, he highlighted India’s vision under the leadership of PM Modi for India-US partnership, diaspora in the US and India’s neighbourhood.

During this visit, Ambassador Sandhu met Senator Ron Johnson, Congressman Bryan Steil and Congressman Glenn Grothman.

Ambassador Sandhu addressed a group of senior executives at a Business Roundtable on “Advancing of US-India Economic and Commercial Partnership” hosted by World Business Chicago and Delhi Committee of Chicago Sister Cities. He separately met Mr. Dirk Van De Pu, CEO of Mondelez International. He also interacted with COO of Emerson Electric and CFOs of ADM and Kellogg among others. Ambassador Sandhu had an engaging conversation with the President of University of Illinois System Timothy Killeen on higher education sector and research collaboration with Indian universities. He also interacted with President of Illinois
Institute Raj Echambadi and CEO of Rush University System for Health Dr. K. Ranga Rama Krishnan.

He separately met senior University professors/administrators working on India- specific initiatives and global partnerships, drawn from several leading universities in the US-Midwest, namely, UChicago, UMinnesota, UWisconsin, Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, Indiana University and DePaul university.

Ambassador also visited Fullerton Hall at the Art Institute of Chicago where Swami Vivekananda had given his landmark address at the World Parliament of Religions in 1893. He was joined by Swami Ishatmananda, the President of Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago.
